Letter from Paulette Johnson, 2nd VP Membership Chairman 2004-2005
Patty, Fran, Wanda, Jon and I went to the AAF National Conference in Dallas, Texas June 12-15. For those of you who aren‚t familiar with AAF, it stands for American Advertising Federation. The AAF represents some 50,000 advertising men and women in all industry segments. As a member of your local advertising club (CAMP), you are a member of the AAF. As the "Unifying Voice for Advertising," the AAF, headquartered in Washington, D.C., with a Western Region office in Newport Beach, Calif., is the trade association that represents 50,000 professionals in the advertising industry. AAF's 130 corporate members are advertisers, agencies and media companies that comprise the nation's leading brands and corporations. AAF has a national network of 210 local ad clubs and connects the industry with an academic base through its 210 college chapters.
While we were there, we learned all kinds of useful information about advertising and marketing and how to make CAMP a better local advertising club for AAF and our members.
We also attended the Third District board meeting. The Third District includes NC, SC and VA ad clubs. We were able to hear reports from other clubs in our District while we shared ideas and networked.
We also attended the National ADDY Awards, AAF Achievers Dinner (where we picked up our Club of the Year award), watched the winning NSAC (National Student Advertising Competition) presentation where the University of Virginia won 2nd place!
